Buckner Earns Individual Honors

To cap off the 2020-21 season, Men's Basketball Freshman Tyrus Buckner was recognized by both the MCCC Conference as well as the NCCAA North Region for his accomplishments this year.

Buckner led the Conference as well as all NCCAA D2 players in Points per Game (#2 in NCCAA), Rebounds per Game (#1 in NCCAA), and field goal % (#1 in NCCAA), while averaging 23.9 PPG on 61.5% FG percentage and 12.3 RPG.

Tyrus had a season full of high performances which include six games with 30+ points and nine games with 15+ rebounds. His season highs came against Calvary on February 6^th when he scored 41 points, and he recorded 21 rebounds against Faith on February 25^th.

"Tyrus has been a God-send for us this year", Coach Graw said of Buckner. "This young man gets it. First semester we had a hard time getting him touches and I never heard him complain, I've just never seen that type of humility in someone with so much talent. What I love most about Tyrus is that he understands that his purpose on this earth is to use what the Lord has given him to advance the kingdom of God. A young man who has humility and purpose figured out is someone that the Lord is going to do great things with. I am excited to be a part of his journey!"
