Eagles Split Opening Weekend
Falls to Trinity, Bounces Back against Providence

The Emmaus University men's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season with an action-packed weekend at Pollard Fieldhouse, falling in a high-scoring battle to Trinity Bible (N.D.) on Friday before responding with an emphatic win over Providence University College on Saturday.
On Friday night, the Eagles came out firing, taking a 48–43 halftime lead behind efficient shooting from Josh Stewart and Eli Mackey. However, Trinity Bible caught fire in the second half, pouring in 64 points to claim a 107–89 victory. Despite the loss, Emmaus showed offensive balance with five players scoring in double figures. Stewart led the charge with 18 points, while Mackey posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Colyer Wingfield added 13 points and seven assists, and freshman Landon Bland provided a spark off the bench with eight points on perfect shooting.
Trinity Bible was led by Jonathan Ogugua's dominant 34-point, 10-assist performance, while Jordan Reeves added 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions. The Eagles shot 46% from the field and 38% from deep but couldn't slow Trinity's transition attack, which converted 48% from the floor overall.
Emmaus rebounded on Saturday with a 96–74 win over Providence University College, thanks to a huge second half in which the Eagles outscored the Pilots 60–33. Mackey was electric, dropping a game-high 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including five three-pointers. Forward David Rothweiler was highly efficient with 18 points (Career High) on 8-of-14 shooting. In comparison, Wingfield and Nathaniel Wagner each posted double-doubles—Wingfield with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Wagner with 11 points and 11 boards.
Emmaus dominated the glass 52–39 and recorded 21 assists as a team, showcasing improved ball movement and interior presence. The Eagles also held Providence to just 35% shooting from the field in the second half while converting 42% from three-point range themselves.
The weekend split moves Emmaus to 1–1 on the season. The Eagles will look to build on Saturday's performance as they continue nonconference play next week.
