Eagles Bounce Back in a Dominant Effort against Rival Moody 79-61
Never a Doubt Against Long-Time Rival
Dubuque, IA — November 15, 2025
Emmaus men's basketball delivered its most complete performance of the young season on Saturday afternoon, using balanced scoring, efficient shooting, and a stifling defensive effort to defeat Moody Bible Institute 79–61 at Pollard Fieldhouse. The win brings the Eagles back to .500 at 2–2.
The Eagles set the tone early, controlling the first half on both ends of the floor. Behind a 40-point opening period, the Eagles built a 15-point halftime lead and never allowed Moody to threaten down the stretch.
Twelve different Emmaus players saw the floor, and the scoring load was shared nearly evenly across the lineup. Josh Stewart led the way with 13 points on an efficient 5-of-9 shooting, including three makes from beyond the arc.
Freshman guard Colyer Wingfield continued his strong early-season play, stuffing the stat sheet with 10 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals—a complete two-way performance.
Fellow starter David Rothweiler added 11 points while shooting 5-of-9 from the field, and Ethan Cox and Noah Simiskey provided big boosts off the bench with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Emmaus shot 48.5% from the field and a red-hot 42.9% from three (12-for-28), a major factor in their offensive success.
While the offense hummed, Emmaus' defensive intensity may have been even more impressive. The Eagles forced 21 Moody turnovers—turnovers that repeatedly turned into transition opportunities.
Emmaus recorded 12 steals, led by Wingfield, Stewart, and Cox, and held Moody to just 12.5% shooting from three (2-for-16).
The Eagles refused to let momentum shift after halftime. While the second-half scoring was closer (39–36), Emmaus' composure, ball movement (24 assists on 32 made baskets), and consistent defensive pressure kept Moody from mounting a comeback.
