Eagles Play Tough, but Outmatched at Luther
Emmaus Learns from Tough Loss to NCAA DIII Luther
Decorah, Iowa — November 18, 2025
The Emmaus Eagles showed flashes of strong play but ultimately couldn't keep pace with the Luther Norse on Tuesday night, falling 77–53 in a non-conference matchup inside Birkestrand Family Court.
Emmaus trailed 35–24 at halftime and continued to fight throughout the second half, but Luther's efficiency in the paint and dominance on the glass proved too much to overcome. With the loss, the Eagles drop to 2-3 on the season.
Freshman Savion Edwards delivered a standout performance, leading the Eagles with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, while adding 7 rebounds in just 19 minutes of action. His physicality around the rim gave Emmaus some much-needed energy. Fellow reserve Ethan Cox also came up strong, scoring 13 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, showcasing his sharpshooting abilities. Guard Eli Mackey also added 10 points, knocking down two threes while contributing four rebounds and an assist. His perimeter scoring kept the Eagles within striking distance during stretches of the game.
However, as a whole, Emmaus struggled to find rhythm, shooting 33.3% (20–60) from the field and 24% (6–25) from three-point range. The Eagles were also hindered by 19 turnovers, which Luther converted into transition opportunities. Luther, to put it lightly, simply shot better and took care of the ball. But Emmaus showed resilience and received strong contributions from its bench unit. Defensively, the Eagles recorded 6 steals and limited Luther to just 7-of-22 (31.8%) from deep, playing tough the whole night.
