Eagles Fight Hard on Weekend Trip to Missouri
Two Very Different Styles of Games
Joplin, MO and Kansas City, MO -- January 16-17, 2026
The Emmaus University Eagles faced tough matchups on the road, dropping both contests against Ozark Christian College and Calvary University.
At Ozark Christian, the Eagles battled hard but fell 89-77. Emmaus shot 42.4% from the field and 41.7% from three-point range, with Eli Mackey leading the way with 18 points and 4 three-pointers. Colyer Wingfield added 9 points and 3 rebounds, while Josh Stewart contributed 14 points off the bench. It was a balanced effort, but it was not enough as the Eagles trailed 40-34 at halftime and were unable to overcome a strong second-half surge by the hosts.
The Eagles then traveled to Calvary University, where they struggled offensively in a 61-48 loss. Emmaus shot just 29.7% from the field and made only 2 of 23 three-point attempts. Colyer Wingfield again led the team with 16 points and 6 rebounds, while Nathaniel Wagner added 7 points and David Rothweiler chipped in 3 rebounds. Calvary controlled the pace (why the score was so low) and maintained the lead throughout. Emmaus fought to stay in the game but ultimately could not shoot from the perimeter.
Overall, the Eagles showed flashes of offensive potential, with Mackey and Wingfield providing strong individual performances, but inconsistency in shooting and turnovers hindered their ability to secure a road win.
