Eagles Win 2nd Halves, Lose to Maranatha and Grace
Slow Starts Doom Eagles in Regional Matchups
Dubuque, IA -- January 30-31, 2026
The Emmaus University Eagles men's basketball team battled through a challenging home weekend at Pollard Fieldhouse, dropping a pair of contests against Maranatha Baptist University and Grace Christian University.
On January 30, Emmaus came up just short in a high-scoring matchup, falling 93–89 to Maranatha Baptist. Nathaniel Wagner led all scorers with a standout performance, pouring in a career-high(!) 32 points on efficient shooting while adding nine rebounds. Josh Stewart chipped in 14 points, and Lucas Leslie added 10 off the bench. The Eagles shot well from the floor and the free-throw line, but Maranatha's balanced scoring and strong first half proved decisive.
The following afternoon, Emmaus faced Grace Christian and fell 79–58. Eli Mackey paced the Eagles with 15 points, while Nathaniel Wagner and Ethan Cox each scored 10. Despite solid ball movement and rebounding efforts from Lance Hall Jr. and Cox, Emmaus struggled to keep up with Grace Christian's offensive consistency throughout the game.
Overall, the Eagles move to 5-13 and 0-3 in the region, and are on an 8-game losing streak. But we know these Eagles are much better than their record!
Up Next: The Eagles travel to Manhattan, KS, to face Manhattan Christian College and Barclay College on Friday, February 6th, at 7:45 PM and Saturday, February 7th, at 12:00 PM, respectively. Come out and support the Eagles!
