ANKENY, Ia. – The Emmaus Eagles men's soccer team opened their 2022 season with a strong and balanced 7-0 result over the Calvary Warriors on the campus of Faith Baptist Bible College.
This 2022 squad boasted 6 new starters from last season, and jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead with goals in the 6th, 11th, 32nd and 39th minutes. The Eagles featured 6 different goal scorers on the day, including a brace from James Baker, who notched a goal in each half.
On the defensive side, the Eagles held strong, maintaining the shutout via 4 total saves from goalkeeper Jacob Bauder, including a point blank stop late in the second half.
"It was a solid team performance and a great way for us to start the year. Now we will turn the page, regroup, and get ready for our home opener versus Eureka on Saturday," shared head coach Chris McHugh
Fish Field will play host to the visitors from Eureka College on Saturday, September 3 at 3pm.
