Goals Galore
JOPLIN, Mo. – Emmaus picked up their first conference win of the season with an 8-4 victory over Ozark Christian in Joplin, MO on Saturday.
Emmaus was under pressure from the opening whistle and faced several corner kicks, before Ozark broke through with a goal inside of 10 minutes.
However, Cristian Anderson responded shortly after with a floating header goal to draw the Eagles level. Uredi Mulinga soon made it 2-1 with a finish, before Ozark replied with their own goal to tie the match again 2-2 at the 25th minute mark.
At that point the game settled and Emmaus starting possessing the ball in the Ozark half. A strong push from Emmaus at the end of the half and early in the second half found the Eagles up 7-2.
"Our team continues to grow and learn, and today was a good day and good result. Moving forward, we'll work on our positioning and communication, and see if we can't clean up some of our mistakes," shared Coach Chris McHugh.
Cristian Anderson finished with 4 goals and 1 assist on the day, while Uredi Mulinga, Josh Matte, James Baker, and Joe Rauch also found the back of the net.
The Eagles return to Fish Field for their second MCCC match of the year on Friday versus Manhattan Christian College.
Emmaus is a fully-accredited four-year college offering more than 30 professional and ministry-related academic programs. Emmaus athletic teams compete in the NCCAA Division II and the Midwest Christian College Conference.
