Men's Soccer Falls at UNW
St. Paul, Minn. -- Emmaus Bible College's soccer team faced a formidable opponent Saturday, as they fell 5-0 to Northwestern (Minn.) in their latest match. The contest proved challenging for the Eagles as they were up against a dynamic and well-coached Northwestern squad.
From the start, Northwestern's aggressive play set the tone. They scored in the 12th minute and the 19th minute, with a third goal just before halftime. The first half concluded with Northwestern leading 3-0, despite Emmaus' best efforts to mount a counterattack.
Emmaus' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Tucker Kapas, faced relentless pressure throughout the match. Kapas had a remarkable day with 16 saves, demonstrating great resilience under duress. Despite his efforts, Northwestern's offense continued to press for more in the second half and found 2 goals, finishing with the final score of 5-0.
Offensively, Emmaus struggled to break through Northwestern's defense, Yet Bennett Kreiner and Jake Matte both registered shots on goal for The Eagles. Their defensive efforts included a solid performance by the entire back line and disciplined play, but Emmaus was unable to capitalize on their offensive opportunities.
Up next: Emmaus Bible College will travel to Watertown, WI on Tuesday, September 10 for a match against Maranatha Baptist University at 4:00 PM.
