Emmaus Overpowered in Conference Match
The Emmaus University men's soccer team fell 3–0 on Tuesday afternoon in conference play against in-state rival, Faith Baptist Bible College.
The host Eagles struck early, scoring in the 7th minute to take a 1–0 lead that carried into halftime. Emmaus generated chances of their own in the opening period, with looks from Jake Matte, Paul Johnson, Connor Fencl, and Bennett Kreiner, but were unable to find the back of the net.
Faith Baptist extended the advantage with two goals early in the second half.
Emmaus battled to the final whistle, recording 13 shots—four on goal—led by Claudius Holzman, Jake Matte, and Edwin Ventura-Magall, who each registered multiple attempts. Freshman goalkeeper Tucker Kapas made three saves in his 90 minutes of action.
The match was physical throughout, with Emmaus picking up three yellow cards. Despite the setback, the Eagles showed resilience in pushing forward late, as Holzman fired two shots in the closing minutes that narrowly missed.
With the result, Emmaus moved to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play. The Eagles will get some extra practice time over the next 10 days before they host #10 Great Lakes Christian during Homecoming on Saturday, September 27
