Eagles Earn Hard-Fought Draw Against Ozark Christian
The Emmaus University men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Ozark Christian on Saturday afternoon at Jack Fish Field.
The Eagles came out aggressive from the opening whistle and were rewarded early when Bennett Kreiner scored in the 10th minute off an assist from Asuan Tomlinson. The goal capped a quick buildup through midfield, giving Emmaus a 1–0 advantage that they carried into halftime.
Ozark Christian found the equalizer in the 51st minute when Micah Colburn converted from close range to even the score at 1–1. Despite the setback, the Eagles continued to press forward, generating a flurry of chances late in the second half. Emmaus outshot the Ambassadors 26–19, including 7 shots on goal and 5 corner kicks, but couldn't find the game-winner.
Claudius Holzman and Jake Matte were constant threats up front, combining for 11 shots, while Sang Mang and Bennett Kreiner each added multiple attempts. Asuan Tomlinson not only provided the assist but also tallied two shots, one on frame, while anchoring the defense.
In goal, Tucker Kapas made five saves, including several key stops in the first half to preserve the early lead.
Both teams saw physical play throughout the contest, with a combined five yellow cards issued.
