Emmaus XC Show Promise at Central Dutch Invitational
Pella, IA -- Emmaus Bible College's cross country teams competed strongly at the Central College Dutch Cross Country Invitational on Friday, September 6.
The Eagles men's team finished 7th out of 8 teams in the men's 6000-meter race, with a total score of 187 points. Leading the very young team was Freshman Matthew Hanselman, who finished 32nd with a time of 22:16.0. Following closely were teammates Freshman Samuel Stapley (35th, 22:25.3), Junior Caleb Ness (39th, 23:20.2), Freshman Benjamin Driscoll (40th, 23:37.6), and Sophomore Christian Vanderkrol (41st, 23:37.6). The men's collective effort resulted in a combined time of 1:55:16.7.
On the women's side, the Eagles finished sixth overall in the 5000-meter race with a team total of 145 points. and were led by standout performances from Anna Coniglio, August Christensen, and Kate Janzen. Anna, a Junior, led the team with a commendable place 19th finish, clocking in at 22:10.1. August, a freshman, crossed the finish line in 28th place with a time of 23:52.6. Kate, another junior, finished 29th with a time of 24:10.8. Bria Tuttle, another junior, finished 34th with a time of 26:50.3. Riley Rath, a sophomore, finished just seconds behind Bria Tuttle in 35th with a time of 26:54:0.
Next Up: The men's team will next compete at the Larry Young Invitational in Columbia, MO on Friday, September 20.
