Eagles Come Up Just Short vs. Mt. Mary
71-68 Thriller Ends Just Short of Victory
Dubuque, IA -- November 15, 2025
Emmaus women's basketball put together a resilient four-quarter effort on Saturday afternoon at Pollard Fieldhouse, but ultimately fell in a tight 71–68 matchup against Mount Mary University. Despite a strong second half and multiple late pushes, the Eagles couldn't quite overcome Mount Mary's efficient shooting and interior presence.
Mount Mary set the tone early, shooting 61% in the opening quarter and taking a 19–14 lead. Emmaus found its rhythm as the game progressed, highlighted by an 18-point third quarter that helped narrow the gap after trailing by nine at halftime. The Eagles continued to chip away in the fourth, matching Mount Mary point-for-point down the stretch, but were unable to overcome the deficit in the end.
Aubry Silva led the Eagles with a standout performance, scoring 19 points while adding 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block. She was aggressive throughout, going 8-for-10 at the free throw line and providing steady scoring when Emmaus needed it most.
Rachel Barrett delivered a powerful inside presence, finishing with a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double. Her seven offensive boards helped fuel several second-chance opportunities that kept Emmaus in striking distance.
Freshman guard Amelia Mackey added 12 points and a team-high 6 assists, while Hanna Kreiner knocked down two threes on her way to 10 points. Off the bench, Madeline Wiest provided a valuable spark with 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 31 impactful minutes.
The Eagles shot 33% from the field but stayed competitive by winning the turnover battle (13 to Mount Mary's 21) and grabbing 10 offensive boards. The Eagles also assisted on 15 of their 23 made baskets in one of their more cohesive offensive outings of the early season.
