DUBUQUE, IA – The Emmaus volleyball team is ready to emerge from a long period of quiet. The Lady Eagles take the court this weekend to open the 2021 campaign - 659 days after the final whistle ended the 2019 season.
Facing a reset and rebuild is no easy task; but if pre-season is any indication of the 2021 roster's strengths, Emmaus volleyball fans may be in for an exciting ride this fall.
"I love the team chemistry we are already seeing," commented Coach Richter. "We have very strong leadership in our seniors, and they have led the way in establishing a great court and team culture. That, plus the motivation all the ladies have to learn and grow as athletes and as young women, makes this season feel very exciting!"
The Lady Eagles will face a hard road, both in the MCCC and the NCCAA North Region.
"We have a young team with a lot of spirit and potential," said Coach Pitman. "We know that the competition has been working hard and I believe that we will face an uphill battle for success on the scoreboard this season. I think the conference is going to be very competitive and the region will be tough as well. As always, we will take the long view of success – we will continue to trust in our process and have a growth mindset as we go through the fall. I am excited to see what our team accomplishes, and I believe this is a group that will do their best to honor the Lord and keep Him first throughout it all."
Emmaus travels to Grand Rapids, MI this Saturday (August 28th) for a tri-match. The Lady Eagles will take on hosts Grace Christian University (10 am EDT, 9 am CDT), followed by a match with the Lancers of Great Lakes Christian College (12 pm EDT, 11 am CDT). Livestream info will be posted on Emmaus Athletics social media accounts.
