Eagles Face Tough North Region Foes
Minneapolis, MN / Saint Bonifacius, MN – August 31, 2024 – Emmaus volleyball team started their 2024 season against two strong North Region foes last weekend, ultimately finishing with two losses. The Eagles fell to the North Central Rams 0-3 on Friday and then faced another defeat against the Crown (MN) Polars with the same scoreline on Saturday.
In their opening match at North Central, the Eagles were unable to overcome the Ram's strong performance, losing with set scores of 25-27, 6-25, and 9-25. In the first set, Emmaus performed well, leading often in a tight match. An opportunity to close out the first match in a win came up short, and the Rams then took over from there. Kaitlin Rahn, led the team with 7 kills, Freshman Lindsey McIlveen had 6 kills, and both Michelle Striley and Freshman Beverly Cummins had 7 digs.
The following day, the Eagles traveled to Saint Bonifacius to face Crown (Minn.), where they again fell 0-3 with scores of 23-25, 19-25, and 20-25. Emmaus put up a valiant effort, again with solid performances from Kaitlin Rahn, who contributed 16 kills, and Michelle Striley, who added 7 kills and 12 digs.
The Eagles look forward to regrouping this weekend as they host a Tri-Match with Moody Bible Institute and Spurgeon College. Emmaus will face the Spurgeon at 11:00 AM, Spurgeon and the Moody Archers play at 1:00 PM and to conclude the action, Emmaus goes up against Moody at 3:00 PM.
