Eagles fall to Pride in Cross Town Matchup
The Emmaus University women's volleyball team (2-6) hit the road Tuesday night to face cross-town opponent Clarke University (2-9). Despite a hard-fought second set, the Eagles came up short, falling in straight sets (10–25, 24–26, 7–25).
After struggling to find rhythm in the opening frame, Emmaus responded in the second set with their best stretch of the night. The Eagles traded points throughout, pushing Clarke to the brink before the Pride closed it out in extra points, 26–24.
Offensively, Beverly Cummins paced Emmaus with 4 kills, a team-high 6 digs, and the Eagles' lone service ace. Selah Gregory also tallied 4 kills, while Kaitlin Rahn and Maddie Wise chipped in 3 and 2 kills respectively. Michelle Striley and Stephanie Hodges combined to hand out 13 assists to guide the attack.
Defensively, Emmaus finished with 35 digs as a team, led by Jennika Beach's 11. Rahn added 5 digs, while Striley and Hodges contributed 6 and 5 apiece.
The Eagles return to Pollard on Friday, hosting conference opponenent #1 Manhattan Christian at 5:00 pm.
