#7 Emmaus Falls to #1 Manhattan Christian in Conference Home Match
The #7 Emmaus University women's volleyball team (2-6) dropped a tough conference contest on Friday evening, falling 3–0 to #1 Manhattan Christian (9-0) inside Pollard Fieldhouse. The visiting Thunder prevailed by scores of 25–12, 25–16, 25–16.
Emmaus struggled to find offensive rhythm against Manhattan's efficient attack, finishing with 23 kills as a team. Senior Kaitlin Rahn led the Eagles with 8 kills and 5 digs, while Selah Gregory and Lindsey McIlveen added 5 kills each. Setter Stephanie Hodges tallied 9 assists and 6 digs, and Jennika Beach anchored the back row with a team-high 13 digs.
At the net, Brooke Hodges contributed 5 blocks, while Gregory and McIlveen combined for 4 block assists.
Despite their defensive effort, the Eagles were unable to slow down a balanced Manhattan offense that posted 38 kills on a .293 hitting percentage.
Emmaus finished with 48 digs and 6 team blocks on the evening, but could not overcome early deficits in each set.
The Eagles are busy this week with two road matches. On September 16 they travel to Ankeny, IA for a NCCAA DII top 10 match against #6 Faith Baptist. They then head to Bourbonnaise, IL on saturday to face Olivet Nazarene at 2:00.
