Emmaus Sweeps Weekend Roadtrip
Emmaus University volleyball capped off a successful weekend on the road with two strong victories, defeating Hannibal-LaGrange 3–1 on Friday night before sweeping Central Christian 3–0 on Saturday. The Eagles improved to 11–10 overall and 4–4 in MCCC play, extending their win streak to sseven matches.
Emmaus 3, Hannibal-LaGrange 1 (25–9, 27–29, 25–23, 25–13)
Emmaus opened the weekend in dominant fashion, taking three of four sets from NAIA Hannibal-LaGrange behind one of their best offensive outings of the season. The Eagles hit an impressive .272 as a team, led by Selah Gregory with 19 kills on a .421 hitting percentage. Kaitlin Rahn added 18 kills (.349) and two solo blocks, while Lindsey McIlveen and Alice Green chipped in 15 and 10 kills, respectively.
Setter Michelle Striley guided the balanced attack with 46 assists, and libero Jennika Beach anchored the back row with a team-high 35 digs. Emmaus also dominated the serve and defensive phases, recording 10 aces and 129 digs as a team.
After cruising through the first set 25–9, the Eagles dropped a close second set in extra points (27–29) but bounced back to close out the next two frames with strong finishes at the net.
Emmaus 3, Central Christian 0 (25–21, 25–7, 25–19)
The Eagles carried that momentum into Saturday's conference matchup against Central Christian in Moberly, where they controlled all three sets en route to the sweep. Emmaus hit .179 for the match while holding the Saints to a negative hitting percentage (-.042).
Kaitlin Rahn once again led the attack with 11 kills and 22 digs, earning her second consecutive double-double. Selah Gregory and Lindsey McIlveen each contributed 8 and 9 kills, while Brooke Hodges added 4 kills and 3 blocks in a strong performance at the net. Striley tallied 31 assists, and Beach recorded 17 digs to keep the Eagles in system throughout the match.
The second set was the highlight of the afternoon, as Emmaus dominated 25–7 behind aggressive serving and efficient offense.
