The Emmaus men's soccer team showed grit and determination on Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell 4–1 to #3 Grace Christian (Mich.) at Jack Fish Field.
Grace Christian came out strong, finding the back of the net eight minutes in. The Tigers continued to pressure throughout the half, adding two more goals before halftime — both from Gavin MacTavish, who capitalized on well-placed assists to make it 3–0 at the break.
Emmaus steadied in the second half, finding more rhythm in possession and creating offensive opportunities. Grace extended its lead in the 48th minute, but the Eagles continued to press and were rewarded when Paul Johnson scored in the 66th minute, finishing a pass from Connor Fencl to put Emmaus on the board.
Goalkeeper Tucker Kapas had a busy afternoon, recording 12 saves against a relentless Grace attack that tallied 38 total shots.
Emmaus moves to 3–8–2 (1–3–2) on the season. Next up for the Eagles is a roadtrip to Watertown, WI for a region rematch against Maranatha Baptist at 3:00 PM.
