Elgin, IL – September 18, 2024 – The Emmaus volleyball team faced NAIA opponent Judson University on Wednesday evening. Despite a competitive match, the Eagles fell 3-0 with set scores of 11-25, 21-25, and 17-25.
The Eagles struggled offensively overall, finishing with a hitting percentage of .067 compared to Judson's .276. Selah Gregory led the team with 8 kills. Beverly Cummins contributed 6 kills and 12 digs.
After adjusting to Judson's blocking in the first set, the Eagles quickly rebounded, rallying at the back end of set two. Led by the hitting of Kaitlin Rahn and Brooke Hodges, the eagles forced multiple Judson errors and cut the lead to 21-24 before Judson was able to seal the match. Set 3 saw another competitive matchup. After an early 5-2 lead by Emmaus, Judson rallied, but was not able to gain a comfortable margin until taking a 17-20 lead to finish out the match with a sweep.
Up Next: The Eagles, now 5-4 this season, head back to the Chicago area on Saturday, September 21 for a rematch against Moody Bible College. The Eagles swept the archers in their previous matchup on September 7 in Dubuque.
