Emmaus Drops Tough Non-Conference Match at ONU
The #7 Emmaus University women's volleyball team (2-7, 0-2) faced a tough road test on Saturday afternoon, falling in straight sets to Olivet Nazarene University (25–9, 25–11, 25–16) inside McHie Arena.
Emmaus showed resilience throughout the match, highlighted by their best stretch in the third set where they kept pace with Olivet through multiple lead changes before the hosts pulled away late.
Defensively, Jennika Beach anchored the back row with a team-high 11 digs, while Michelle Striley added 7 digs and dished out 8 assists. At the net, Maddie Wise and Selah Gregory each tallied 3 kills, with Wise contributing 3 block assists and Gregory chipping in 1 solo block and 2 block assists.
Lindsey McIlveen sparked the offense in the later stages, finishing with 4 kills and 2 digs, while Kaitlin Rahn added 2 kills and a block assist. From the service line, Beach and Stephanie Hodges each delivered an ace to give Emmaus momentum during the third set.
As a team, the Eagles finished with 13 kills, 32 digs, 4 total blocks, and 2 service aces. Despite the loss, Emmaus showed improvement in their fight during the final frame, nearly matching Olivet point-for-point before the Tigers closed out the match.
The Eagles are back in Pollard this weekend for a homecoming match against Midwest Region opponent, Maranatha Baptist (0-13) on Friday at 7:00 PM.
