The Emmaus University women's volleyball team put together a strong showing on Friday, October 17, sweeping their home doubleheader with back-to-back victories over #4 Calvary University (12–7) and Grace Christian University (9-10).
In the afternoon match against Calvary, Emmaus fought through a tight five-set battle to secure the 25–22, 18–25, 25–18, 20–25, 15–9 victory. Senior outside hitter Selah Gregory led the charge with 17 kills while hitting .250 and adding 2 blocks, providing a consistent spark for the Eagles' offense. Alice Green chipped in 11 kills on .233 hitting, while Kaitlin Rahn added 7 kills and 15 digs. Setter Michelle Striley dished out 38 assists and added 7 digs. Defensively, libero Jennika Beach anchored the back row with 26 digs, and Brooke Hodges contributed 4 blocks and 7 points in the middle.
As a team, Emmaus tallied 50 kills and 82 digs while holding Calvary to a .093 hitting percentage in the five-set victory.
The Eagles carried that momentum into the evening contest, defeating Grace Christian (Mich.) in four sets, 25–23, 23–25, 25–21, 25–16. The balanced team effort was highlighted by another standout performance from Rahn, who led the team with 15 kills and 12 digs. Green followed with 10 kills, while Lindsey McIlveen added 11 kills and 7 digs. Striley again steered the offense efficiently with 44 assists, and Beach was a defensive force with a career-high 30 digs.
Emmaus posted 51 kills, 90 digs, and 7 team blocks in the win while limiting Grace to just .165 hitting.
With the two wins, Emmaus improves their record to 9-10 and continue on a 6 game win streak.
The team travels next to Missouri for a non-conference match at Hannibal-Lagrange University on Friday, and a rematch against Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, MO on Saturday.
